The High Court of Odisha invited applicants from 1 March 2023 to 20 March 2023 for the posts of Assistant Selection Officer and Junior Stenographer. The notification announced 199 vacancies for assistant selection officers and 35 for junior stenographers.
The exam will be conducted in the coming months. The OHC Admit Card link will at least be activated on the portal at least 7 to 10 days prior to the examination. The candidates can download it easily by entering their registration details.

Selection Process
Assistant Selection Officer- The candidate will have to go through 4 stages.
- Preliminary examination
- Mains examination
- Computer Application Test
- Viva-voice
The preliminary examination is qualifying in nature. A candidate has to score a minimum of 40% to qualify for the next stage and for SC/ST qualifying mark is 33%. Those who obtain this will be called for the mains examination.
The candidates who will clear this examination will be called by the court to give a computer application test which is qualifying in nature and hence its marks will not be added to the final merit list scores. The last step is the viva voice.
Junior Stenographer – The candidate will be scrutinized in three phases.
- English subject
- Computer Application test
- Skill test
The English test is qualifying in nature and the candidates who score a minimum of 35% and SC/ST who score a minimum of 30% will be called for the computer test which is also qualifying in nature. A candidate who scores less than 50% will not be qualified for the next step. The skill test is a shorthand and a typewriting test, merit list will be prepared based on the scores obtained in the exam.

Assistant Selection Officer-:
a) Preliminary examination-
- The exam is for 150 marks.
- The time given for the exam is 120 minutes.
- There is a negative marking of 0.5 for each incorrect answer.
- Each question carries 1 mark.
- The subjects are -: General English, General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative aptitude.

b) Skill Test – The dictation of an English passage containing 400 words shall be made at a speed of 80 words per minute and transcription on a computer at a speed of 40 words per minute.
- Each correct word will give a 0.25 mark to the candidate.
- Mistakes and omissions beyond 10% will disqualify the candidate.
